Sarcoma cancer attacks the long bones in the body, and paralyzes them to an extinct that they remain no more able to perform their tasks efficiently. The problem may be divided into two broader categories, primary and secondary. By Primary bone cancer, we mean that form of cancer which itself originates in the tissues of bones, while a secondary bone cancer originates somewhere else in the body and then penetrates into the bones from there. Some most common types are mentioned below.
Ewing Sarcoma attacks the soft tissues near the bones and grows on the bones. It can be treated through surgery and chemotherapy. Uterine Sarcoma cancer is said to be the most deadly type which can affect anybody regardless of age and health, but it most attacks ladies between 50 and 70. It happens when the body’s own cells start turning into tumors by behaving abnormally. Kaposi’s sarcoma was diagnosed in 80s, which affects bones and soft tissues and is an aggressive and fast moving trauma. Kaposi is also said to be one of chief reasons behind AIDS. Spindle cell sarcoma is called soft tissues sarcoma, as it affects the soft connective tissues. When affected, these cells appear like spindle when examined using a microscope. The children, especially boys, are most likely to have developed osteosarcoma cancer.
Various medical bodies are trying to find out the causes of its spread in the body, but they have found a little about it until now. At least one thing is common in its all types that the victim feels severe pain in the bones. The treatment is most effective in preliminary stages, but it is not easy to diagnose the problem at that time. In children it is often misdiagnosed with growing pain, while in adults it looks like the case of arthritis pain.
Inflaming and swelling are two important factors associated with this problem, while the existence of lump may also be felt in many cases. If the cancer is developing near or in a joint, it becomes too much difficult for the person to move his joint. Although the exact reasons are still unknown, yet the scientists have a vague idea that a faulty DNA strand may be a reason behind its development. The darkest aspect of this disease is it may conquer the lymphatic system of the body, and spread throughout the whole body; this situation is not applicable in any other type of cancer. Obesity is said to be another risk factor which may cause this cancer.
There have been put a lot of efforts in determining ways of treating it, but all these efforts have shown little results. It is a silent enemy, which may start in any part of body without any warning. The stats show that nearly 60% of sarcoma cancers appear on hands and feet, 30% appear in the abdomen areas, while the rest affect neck and head. If diagnosed early, the problem may easily be tackled with help of surgery. Early diagnosing shows a survival rate of more than 80%.
